Laura is excited to be a part of the COR FIT team as a fitness coach for kids via COR FIT’s FIT 4 KIDZ programs at local elementary schools and looks forward to encouraging movement and stimulating brains in children across the community! She graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 1997 where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and went on to further her education by graduating in 2001 with a Master’s degree in Education and Human Development from the George Washington University. Laura had a successful 15-year career as a Human Resource Development professional focusing on individual and organizational effectiveness in areas such as career development and planning, performance management and improvement, workforce planning, talent management, competency modeling and design, employee engagement, and training design and delivery. She holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification as well as a Human Capital Strategist (HCS) certification.
Laura realized her passion for physical fitness and recognized the positive effect it had on her overall health and sense of well being as she juggled the demands of motherhood and part-time HR consulting work. Laura hopes to become a certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) focusing on behavior change via the ACE Behavior Change Certification program. Her ultimate goal is to weld her HR experience in career development and planning with her passion for fitness to help others achieve optimal health in both mind and body to make the right decisions about their careers and other life aspirations.
In addition to Laura’s love of fitness and helping others reach their career and life goals, she is a skincare consultant with Rodan + Fields, the #2 premium skincare company in the United States. Laura works closely with women and men to assess their skincare needs and to help them find the right solutions to combat skin issues such as acne, skin discoloration due to sun damage, sensitivity, and aging.
In her spare time, Laura loves to exercise any chance she gets (kickboxing, boot camps, spinning classes, yoga, barre classes, strength training, you name it) and is an avid cyclist having competed in several long distance bike challenges. She also enjoys running and participates in many local 5K’s alongside her daughter, Madeline, who also has a passion for physical activity, sports, and exercise.
Laura lives in Arlington with her husband, Geoff, and their two young daughters, Madeline and Abigail and is a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church where she serves as a church leader on the Witness and Welcome Committee. She is a board member of Arlington Traditional School’s PTA serving as Vice President of Programs.
